Gemofio, meaning Gem of the Indian Ocean, is a tribute to Sri Lanka’s extraordinary beauty, rich culture and warm-hearted people. Our founder, Divya Arulpragasam Malcolm, began his journey in the travel industry 10 years ago, starting as a reservation specialist in Colombo. Those early years were his classroom, where he learned not just the logistics of travel but the rhythm and soul of Sri Lankan hospitality. The vision for Gemofio crystallized from moments of seeing travelers experience Sri Lanka deeply, the awe of Sigiriya, the delight in a perfectly brewed cup of Ceylon tea and the serene calm of a hidden southern beach. Malcolm realized that for many visitors Sri Lanka could feel like a whirlwind and he wanted to offer journeys that slowed down time, peeled back the layers of history and revealed authentic experiences.
